Buono Praises Progress Of Red Tape Review Group, Sees Hope For Business Solutions

TRENTON – Senate Majority Leader Barbara Buono, a member of the Governor’s Red Tape Review Group, released the following statement on the group’s first meeting today at Rowan University:

“The first meeting of the Red Tape Review Group has made it painfully clear that the rules and regulations people and businesses must adhere to are incomprehensible and the process is about as transparent as mud. While we don’t want to reduce our regulatory framework to the Wild West, we must set a new course that is balanced and predictable.

“Given the current economic climate, we can’t afford to throw any more obstacles in the way of businesses when their growth is already being stymied by a lack of credit and consumer buying power. As we move forward, we need to strike a reasonable balance between the needs of business and industry and the needs of our residents.

“An important first step taken today was to consider a more pragmatic approach to incorporating public feedback into new rules. This will be key as we move forward because fairness and efficiency do not have to be mutually exclusive when crafting New Jersey’s policies and regulations.”
