Buono Reaction To The State Of The State

TRENTON – Senator Barbara Buono, D-Middlesex and Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus, made the following statement today as Governor Richard J. Codey delivered his final State of the State Address:

“Today is an especially poignant day for everyone in the Legislature and around the State to reflect upon the challenges and accomplishments of the past year.

“Fourteen months ago, Senator Codey assumed the role of Governor amidst one of the most politically tumultuous times in recent history. His tenure in office has made the entire Senate, both Democrats and Republicans, proud of how he rose to the task and served the State with honor and integrity.

“To say that the past year has been a learning experience is an understatement. The Governor has shown me the progress we can make when the Administration works closely with the Legislature to advance measures that benefit all New Jersey residents.

“Looking forward, I hope that the Legislature, in a bipartisan manner, can work just as closely with Governor-Elect Corzine in tackling the difficult challenges that lie ahead and continue the positive momentum that we have built up over the last year.”
