Buono Statement On President Obama’s American Jobs Act

TRENTON – Senate Majority Leader Barbara Buono (D-Middlesex) released the following statement today on the jobs plan unveiled yesterday by President Barack Obama in a speech before a joint session of Congress:

“The President laid out a strong plan for our nation’s economic recovery that will spur job creation and fuel economic growth. Through a combination of tax cuts for small businesses and investments in education and infrastructure, The American Jobs Act will immediately create thousands of good-paying jobs for New Jersey residents.

“Most importantly, this plan will ensure that teachers, construction workers and law enforcement – the men and women who are the backbone of our economy – do not fall out of the middle class. The President said it best, the American people do not care about politics, they have real life concerns. They care about finding a job, paying their mortgage, and saving enough money to send their children to college, so they can get the education that is required in the 21st century to compete.

“It’s time to end the political bickering that has resulted in partisan gridlock in Washington, and to put our nation back to work. For the future of our country, there is no option for Congress but to act.”
