TRENTON – Senate Majority Leader Barbara Buono, a member of the Governor’s Red Tape Review Group, will host a local hearing in Middlesex County to provide residents, businesses and community organizations the opportunity to weigh in on the state’s sometimes burdensome and conflicting rules and regulations. The hearing will take place on Monday, March 15, at Middlesex County Community College in Cafeteria C from 4 – 7 pm.
“Feedback from members of the community will be an invaluable part of this process,” said Sen. Buono (D-Middlesex). “In order to move our state forward, we need to chart a new course that is transparent and predictable so that we may strike a reasonable balance between the needs of business and industry, the environment, and our residents.”
Residents will be given the opportunity to provide testimony in order to assist Sen. Buono and the rest of the Red Tape Review Group in finding ways to streamline or eliminate many of the state’s cumbersome rules and regulations that often hinder economic growth and progress. The meeting is open to any resident or business owner in Middlesex County, however, interested attendees are asked to RSVP to Sen. The Red Tape Review Group was established by Governor Chris Christie through executive order on January 20. The group has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive review of the state’s existing and pending rules, regulations, processes and executive orders in order to assess their effects on New Jersey’s economy and determine whether their burdens on business and workers outweigh their intended benefits. Sen. Buono was subsequently appointed by Senate President Sweeney to serve as a member of the bi-partisan group.
