03 Feb: Madden/Karcher Measure To Help Prevent Domestic Violence Advances In Committee

TRENTON – A measure sponsored by Senators Fred H. Madden and Ellen Karcher that would create “The Domestic Violence and Workforce Development Initiative Act,” and require the State’s workforce development counselors to be trained to address the needs of domestic violence victims was approved today by the Senate Labor Committee.

“The issue of domestic violence prevention is so important because of the huge impact it has on the families it affects,” said Senator Madden, D-Camden and Gloucester. “Preparing workforce development and unemployment counselors to deal with the needs of domestic violence victims will provide them with the encouragement to seek refuge while working for self-sufficiency.”

01 Feb: Madden And Mayer To Help ‘Give Kids A Smile’

BLACKWOOD – Senator Fred H. Madden and Assemblyman David R. Mayer will tour the “Give Kids a Smile!” program (GKAS) on Wednesday, February 2 at Camden County College’s Blackwood campus from 8:30 AM to 4 PM.

“In these tough economic times, dental health can fall by the wayside when it comes to making decisions like either visiting the dentist or putting food on the table,” said Senator Madden, D-Camden and Gloucester. “I commend the New Jersey Dental Association (NJDA), University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), and the many talented health professionals who donate their time to help provide preventative and emergency dental care for the State’s underprivileged kids.”

24 Jan: Madden/Sweeney Measure To Help Police Locate Lost Alzheimer’s Patients Advances In Committee

TRENTON – A measure sponsored by Senators Fred H. Madden and Stephen M. Sweeney that would create training guidelines and require State and local law enforcement officers to work in conjunction with the national Safe Return program to help locate lost Alzheimer’s patients was approved today by the Senate Law, Public Safety and Veterans Affairs committee.

“Disorientation is a dangerous side effect of Alzheimer’s disease,” said Senator Madden, D-Camden and Gloucester. “Losing a family member can be one of the scariest experiences in the world for both those suffering with Alzheimer’s and for their loved ones. As a former State Police officer, this training is necessary to teach police how to safely recover lost Alzheimer’s patients and return them to their families.”

19 Jan: Madden/Sweeney Measure Would Train Police To Locate Lost Alzheimer’s Patients

TRENTON – A measure sponsored by Senators Fred H. Madden and Stephen M. Sweeney that would establish training guidelines and require State and local law enforcement officers to collaborate with the Safe Return program in locating lost individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s disease has been introduced in the Senate.

“As a retired State Police officer, I’ve seen the panic that family members experience when a loved one with Alzheimer’s can’t be found,” said Senator Madden, D-Camden and Gloucester. “This measure would allow law enforcement officials to receive the training necessary to help safely recover and return Alzheimer’s patients to their families.”

12 Jan: Media Advisory: Madden, Smith And Mayer To Host Lindenwold Town Meeting

LINDENWOLD- Senator Fred H. Madden and Assemblymen Robert J. Smith and David R. Mayer will host a town meeting on Tuesday, January 18 at 7:30 PM at the Lindenwold Borough Hall to announce the $6.7 million that has been appropriated from the Department of Transportation for renovations and repairs to the United States Ave. bridge.

“The United States Ave. bridge has been closed for years, and this funding will help make the necessary repairs to ease traffic in Lindenwold,” said Senator Madden, D-Camden and Gloucester. “Town hall meetings like this are important because they allow us to interact with our Lindenwold constituents and get their feedback on the issues that matter to them. When we were elected as legislators, we agreed to address the needs of District 4 residents – that is our top priority.”

10 Dec: Preview – Senate Session Monday Has Security Issues

TRENTON – The Senate will convene Monday to deal with multiple issues of increasing safety for New Jersey residents in a post 9-11 world.

Democratic Senators Nicholas P. Scutari, Fred Madden, Paul Sarlo, Barbara Buono and John Girgenti all will be advancing their bills to structure the responsibilities of government agencies – at all levels – to respond effectively during possible emergencies.

07 Dec: Media Advisory – 4th District Legislators To Attend Dedication Of Highway In Memory Of Fallen Trooper

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP – Senator Fred H. Madden and Assemblyman David R. Mayer will attend a dedication ceremony this Sunday afternoon in Dennis Township for the re-naming of New Jersey Route No. 83 as “Trooper Bertram T. Zimmerman III Memorial Highway.”

Trooper Zimmerman was a New Jersey State Police Officer who served in the Tactical Patrol Unit. The Gloucester Township resident was killed in a car crash on Route 83 earlier this year, while responding to the scene of an armed robbery.

02 Dec: ‘Sex Crime Victim Treatment Fund’ Measure Advances In Assembly Committee

TRENTON – A measure sponsored by Senators Fred H. Madden and John A. Girgenti that would create the “Sex Crime Victim Treatment Fund,” to help provide counseling for victims was approved today by the Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee.

“According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 300,000 forcible rapes occur every year,” said Senator Madden, D-Camden and Gloucester. “There is no dollar amount that can possibly compensate victims for the trauma inflicted on them, but this Fund would allow them to receive counseling and other services to help them lead healthier and happier lives.”

04 Nov: Madden, Smith, Mayer To Hold Thanksgiving Drive To Benefit Troops

TURNERSVILLE – Senator Fred H. Madden and Assemblymen David R. Mayer and Robert J. Smith in conjunction with Land Dimensions Engineering will be sponsoring a Thanksgiving drive to benefit the troops stationed in the Middle East.

“These men and women are in the Middle East, working to restore world-wide peace,” said Senator Madden, D-Camden and Gloucester. ” These soldiers are risking their lives to help us maintain ours in a manner to which we are accustomed, and I think that it is the least we can do to help provide them with these basic necessities.
