Unused Property for Rt. 24 Will Be Converted To Preserve

TRENTON — Property previously designated for Route 24 in Essex and Morris counties will now be used to create a nature trail, under terms of legislation, S-1022, authored by Senator Richard J. Codey and signed into law.

“This is a smart and resourceful way of making the best use of land that is not needed for transportation in order to create a nature trail for everyone to enjoy. Our natural resources are real assets and this will give more people the opportunity to use the trail for a variety of recreational purposes,” said Senator Codey.

“I want to thank Hanover Township Mayor Ronald Francioli for his hard work in getting this done. The residents of his community and all the towns in the area will benefit from this for years to come.”

The bill will transfer ownership of the land from the Department of Transportation to the local communities, following approval by the Statehouse Commission.
