TRENTON – Senator Richard J. Codey issued the following statement ahead of the Governor’s State Budget Address tomorrow:
“There are increasing rumors that the administration may attempt to drastically change the structure of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey in a political move to shore up funds in the budget. I can’t think of a worse time to potentially hurt New Jersey health care in light of the looming unknowns in Washington about the future of the Affordable Care Act.
“While Congress contemplates dismantling the ACA, we should be focused on how we can protect New Jersey’s health care consumers from losing coverage and strengthening the state’s oldest and largest health insurer, not potentially weakening it at such a fragile time in the market place.”
