Girgenti Calls Hearing To Collect Gang Intelligence

TRENTON – On Monday, September 25th, the Senate Law, Public Safety and Veterans’ Affairs Committee will meet at 10:00 AM in Committee Room 4 to hear presentations concerning criminal street gang activity in New Jersey.

The Director of Criminal Justice, Gregory Paw and members from the State Police and Parole Board will each give a presentation. The League of Municipalities will also be represented by mayors from North, Central and South Jersey.

“I feel that it is important to gather intelligence from those who have extensive knowledge of gang-related crime, so that we can produce the most effective legislation possible,” said Senator John A. Girgenti, Chairman of the Senate Committee. “Earlier this year, the Assembly passed a package of anti-gang bills, and by listening to the presentations and recommendation of gang experts, we can expand on the good work the Assembly has already done to combat the rising problem of gangs in New Jersey.”
