TRENTON – Senator Fred H. Madden issued the following statement on the passing of state Senator Jim Whelan:
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of my friend and colleague in the New Jersey State Senate, Jim Whelan. Jim was a person of remarkable integrity and character who chose a life of public service because he truly cared about making a positive difference in other people’s lives.
“I can say with the utmost sincerity that he was among the most genuinely kind and decent people I have ever served with. He was a tremendous asset to the State Senate, our South Jersey delegation, and the State of New Jersey at-large.
“My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this most difficult time.”
