Media Advisory – Codey/Karcher Ethics Reform Package Moving Forward In Senate

State Government Committee to Hear Bills Tomorrow

TRENTON – The Senate State Government Committee tomorrow will take up discussion on a package of ethics reform bills spearheaded by Senate President Richard J. Codey (D-Essex) and Senator Ellen Karcher (D-Monmouth, Mercer). The package, which has already gained bipartisan support, is aimed at restoring the public’s confidence in government and creating greater transparency and efficiency.

Sen. Codey is expected to testify before the committee when it meets at 1:00 p.m. in Committee Room 7 on the second floor of the State House Annex in Trenton. Up for discussion as part of the package are bills S-222, S-2503, S-2504, S-2505, and S2506, which will mandate ethics training in the legislative branch, crack down on lobbyist influence, prohibit political contributions by public agencies, and tighten controls on the use of campaign funds.
