Ruiz and Pintor Marin Applaud Attorney General’s Actions to Protect New Jersey’s Natural Resources

TRENTON – Senator M. Teresa Ruiz and Assemblywoman Eliana Pintor Marin have issued the following statement regarding the Attorney General and the Department of Environmental Protections’ announcement of six major lawsuits seeking damages for harm done to natural resources in the state. Two of the six sites are in Newark’s Ironbound District.

“We are thankful the Attorney General has taken up the fight to hold these companies accountable for the damage they have done to our natural resources. For many years now the lack of accountability has not gone unnoticed, especially in the Ironbound District. The City of Newark should not have to pay to clean up the mess of corporations, and families certainly should not have to live on contaminated land. We’re thankful the state is seeking to right these wrongs, and ensuring our children have a safer and cleaner Newark to grow up in.”
