SENATOR GORDON SAID CHRISTIE’S VETO OF FRACKING WASTE BAN A DANGER TO RESIDENTS

Senator Bob Gordon, D-Bergen, the Chairman of the Senate Legislative Oversight Committee, asks a question during the Committee’s hearing on halfway houses in New Jersey.

TRENTON — Senator Bob Gordon (D-Bergen) issued the following statement regarding Gov. Chris Christie’s veto of legislation, S-1041, that would have banned the disposal, treatment, and storage of fracking waste in New Jersey.

“The liquids used in fracking are toxic substances that are known to be hazardous to humans, and this legislation would have protected New Jersey residents from that danger,” said Gordon. “One of the main responsibilities of government is to protect its residents from harm, and today Gov. Chris Christie failed that test.”
