Senator Greenstein Supports Shutdown Pay for State Workers

Greenstein

TRENTON – Senator Linda Greenstein issued the following statement today saying that she supports legislative efforts to protect state employees from losing pay during the brief government shutdown:

“New Jersey state workers were caught in an unfortunate set of circumstances in not being allowed to do their jobs through no fault of their own. It would be unfair for them to lose pay.  Our state workers are vital in seeing that the wide range of public services that are so important to so many people are provided to them in an effective way. Public sector workers should be respected and appreciated for their public service.

“Closing agencies like the Department of Motor Vehicles and shutting down public parks have a detrimental impact on the lives of the citizens of New Jersey, but they also impact the employees and their families.

“We need to stand with our state workers. The shutdown was unnecessary and this is our chance to make things right.”
