Senator Sweeney’s Reaction To The Fy2008 Budget Address

TRENTON – Senator Steve Sweeney, D-Gloucester, Cumberland and Salem released the following statement today regarding Governor Jon Corzine’s proposed Fiscal Year 2008 budget:

“As the Chairman of the Senate Labor Committee, I try to make it my business to champion the rights of working New Jerseyans.

“I think that the Governor delivered a good budget address in that his proposed budget begins the process of government reform for our pensions and benefits programs.

“This proposed budget is one that we will still be proud of 20 years from now because future generations will not be saddled with the burden of paying off our debt. Governor Corzine is willing to take the appropriate bold steps necessary to help reform State government, and for that I applaud him.

“I am looking forward to working with the Governor and with my colleagues in the Legislature to pass a good, balanced budget in a timely manner.”
