Sweeney: We Will Know If The Republicans’ Mantra Of ‘Shared Sacrifice’ Is One They Actually Aspire To Live Up To

Senate President Stephen M. Sweeney released the following statement regarding potential votes Monday in the Senate to override the Governor’s vetoes of legislation to reinstate the Millionaire’s Tax and dedicate the $637 million in revenues to senior citizen property tax relief and prescription drug assistance:

“The Senate will be prepared to immediately take up an override of the Governor’s vetoes should the Assembly’s votes succeed.

“It is my sincere hope that my Republican colleagues will put the very real needs of their constituents before the political wants of the Governor and support an override of his misguided vetoes.

“On Monday, we will know if the Republicans’ mantra of ‘shared sacrifice’ is one they actually aspire to live up to.”
