16 Dec: Norcross/Madden Bill To Aid Families Of Officers, Emergency Responders Killed In The Line Of Duty Clears Committee

TRENTON – Legislation sponsored by Senators Donald Norcross (D-Camden/Gloucester) and Fred Madden (D-Gloucester/Camden) to aid the families of fallen police officers, firefighters, emergency medical responders and correctional officers by providing assistance to help cover funeral costs was approved today by the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee.

“Every day, public safety officers across New Jersey put their lives on the line to protect us,” said Senator Norcross. “Unfortunately, there are times when these brave men and women pay the ultimate sacrifice. This bill serves as a sign of public appreciation to the survivors of those fallen heroes.”

“We can never repay the families of fallen officers, firefighters and emergency personnel for the tremendous personal sacrifice they made in the name of public safety,” said Senator Madden. “However, we can show our gratitude by helping to ease the financial burden families face when they are in their greatest time of need. This bill is a small way to say ‘thank you’ for their loved one’s service and their extraordinary sacrifice.”
