01 Feb: Sacco Motorcycle Safety Bill Signed Into Law

TRENTON – A bill sponsored by Senator Nicholas J. Sacco which establishes safety guidelines for new motorcycle riders in order to improve rider safety in the Garden State was signed into law by Governor Christie yesterday.

“As motorcycles continue to grow in popularity, more and more people are getting into accidents involving motorcycles on our roadways,” said Senator Sacco, D-Hudson and Bergen, and chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee. “The Federal Highway Authority estimates that about 2,500 motorcycles are involved in traffic accidents each year in New Jersey, and the State Division of Highway Safety reports that motorcycles accidents account for 70 or more fatalities and nearly 2,000 injuries each year. We have to recognize the facts, and do all we can to make sure that operating a motorcycle is as safe as possible in the Garden State.”

20 Dec: Sacco Motorcycle Safety Bill Receives Final Legislative Approval

TRENTON – A bill sponsored by Senator Nicholas J. Sacco which would establish safety guidelines for new motorcycle riders in order to improve rider safety in the Garden State was approved by the Senate today by a vote of 35-3, receiving final legislative approval.

“If you look at the statistics, the number of motorcycle accidents is steadily rising as more motorcycles are registered for our roadways,” said Senator Sacco, D-Hudson and Bergen, and chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee. “The Federal Highway Authority estimates that about 2,500 motorcycles are involved in traffic accidents each year in New Jersey, and the State Division of Highway Safety notes that motorcycle accidents account for 70 or more fatalities and about 2,000 injuries annually. We should not ignore the facts, and must make sure that all motorcycle operators in the Garden State are given the proper safety instruction to prevent tragedy.”

TRENTON – A bill sponsored by Senator Nicholas J. Sacco which would establish safety guidelines for new motorcycle riders in order to improve rider safety in the Garden State was approved by the Assembly today by a vote of 67-7.

“According to the Federal Highway Authority, about 2,500 motorcycles are involved in traffic accidents each year on New Jersey’s roadways,” said Senator Sacco, D-Hudson and Bergen, and chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee. “According to the State Division of Highway Safety, motorcycle accidents account for 70 or more fatalities a year and about 2,000 injuries. We cannot ignore these statistics, and we must make sure that motorcycle riders follow proper precautions to make sure they can navigate New Jersey’s roadways safely.”
