19 Nov: Turner Urges Support For Local Economies, Small Businesses Through ‘Small Business Saturday’ Resolution

(TRENTON) – Senator Shirley K. Turner (D-Mercer/Hunterdon) today introduced a Senate Resolution in support of “Small Business Saturday” being celebrated this year on November 24, 2012. Started in 2010, the Saturday between “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday” is designated nationwide as “Small Business Saturday” to help promote and support small businesses in our communities.

“Small businesses are often at a disadvantage when competing against larger chain stores that have budgets for advertising impressive sales and deals that attract more shoppers during the holiday season,” said Turner. “We should not forget that small businesses are the backbone of our local economy and they deserve our support in capturing some of the holiday sales that are largely dominated by huge department and cyber stores.”
