Turner Statement On Agreement To Save Petty’s Run

TRENTON – Senator Shirley Turner (D-Mercer) issued the following statement today regarding the agreement reached between Mercer County and the Christie Administration to save Petty’s Run:

“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes, the Mercer County Freeholder Board and the Governor’s Administration for coming together to save Petty’s Run. We should also not overlook the many New Jersey residents who spent a good deal of time fighting for the preservation of this historic site. Their vigilance shows that individuals can make a difference when committed to a good cause.

“Petty’s Run is one of many magnificent historical treasures in the state’s capital city. Preserving it so that our children and grandchildren can learn about our history and where we come from is the right thing to do. I am eager to see the restoration begin and will do whatever I can to help assist in the preservation of Petty’s Run.”
