On April 18, 2016, Senator Joseph Vitale spoke at a press conference following a roundtable discussion with Narcan trainees about his legislative efforts to battle the heroin epidemic in New Jersey. His work includes the landmark Opioid Antidote and Overdose Prevention Act, signed in 2013, and a comprehensive package of bills introduced in 2014 that have led to the establishment and expansion of the Prescription Monitoring Program, Project Medicine Drop and much more. Senator Vitale continues to focus on education, prevention, treatment and recovery efforts in New Jersey.
