Vitale Reaction To State Of The State Address

TRENTON – Senator Joseph F. Vitale, D-Middlesex, the Chairman of the Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee, issued the following statement regarding Governor Codey’s State of the State Address:

“In his tenure, Governor Codey made helping the less fortunate a cornerstone of his agenda. Whether it was providing access to quality health insurance, under the State’s FamilyCare plan, for those who couldn’t afford it, or standing up for those suffering from the stigma and realities of mental illness, or providing a realistic minimum wage that workers in this State can live by, he has been a hero for the disadvantaged and our most vulnerable.

“I am looking forward to working with Governor Codey, in his capacity as Senate President, as well as Governor-Elect Corzine and the rest of the Legislature in addressing the issues that affect our citizens who are most in need in the coming Legislative Session. Governor Codey has set the bar high, but I am hopeful that Governor Corzine, working with the Senate and Assembly, will be able to meet the challenge.

“It’s easy for a Governor to help those who are vocal of their needs, but it takes a real leader to also recognize those suffering in silence. Governor Codey has been a real leader for the State of New Jersey, and I’m sure he will serve a vital role in the years to come.”
