Senator Weinberg Applauds Signing Of Local Pay-To-Play Ban

TEANECK – Senator Loretta Weinberg, D-Bergen, released the following statement today regarding Governor Richard J. Codey’s signing of S-1987, a measure to allow municipalities to enact their own pay-to-play ordinances:

“I am delighted that I was able to vote for this bill twice; once as a Co-prime sponsor in the Assembly, and again in the Senate.

“I celebrate Governor Codey’s support of the legislation – legislation that will help crack down on governmental corruption on the local level. This new law is a great step for municipalities that have already passed their own pay-to-play bans, and I am hoping that this will encourage other towns to do so as well.”
