Senator Madden has earned recognition from numerous organizations for his legislative work. He was awarded the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce Legislator of the Year in 2013 and was recognized by the Food Council Committee for Good Government as a 2013 Distinguished Legislator. Additionally, Senator Madden was awarded the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of New Jersey Outstanding Legislator of the Year for 2011, the Family Resource Network and Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey Legislator of the Year Award in 2010; the Arc of New Jersey Legislator of the Year Award in 2009; the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter Public Servant Award in 2007; and the National Kidney Foundation’s Bruce Zakheim M.D. Memorial and Advocacy Award in 2007.
Mr. Lagana was selected by district Democratic Committee members April 11, 2018, to fill a vacancy created when Senator Robert Gordon resigned to become a commissioner on the Board of Public Utilities. Mr. Lagana took the oath the following day. He was elected to the Assembly in 2013, 2015 and 2017.
