Beach Bill to Appropriate $1.1 Million to Historic Preservation Projects Clears Committee

TRENTON – Legislation sponsored by Senate State Government, Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preservation Committee Chair James Beach, which would appropriate $1.1 million to the New Jersey Historic Trust Fund, cleared the Senate State Government, Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preservation Committee today.

“New Jersey is home to a rich history dating back to the American Revolution,” said Senator Beach (D-Burlington/Camden). “This funding will maintain our historical sites and preserve them for future generations.”

The bill, S-3151, would appropriate $1,190,349 million to the New Jersey Historic Trust for grants to certain historic preservation projects. The funding is provided from constitutionally dedicated corporate business tax revenue. The bill outlines 33 approved projects across 17 counties, all of which would be required to match the funding provided.

The bill was released from committee by a vote of 5-0.
