Beach Bill to Change the 2020 Primary Date Becomes Law

Trenton – New Jersey’s 2020 primary will be held on July 7th, rather than June 2nd, following the enactment of legislation sponsored by Senator James Beach.

“I am grateful the Governor saw the value in this legislation, which will strengthen his Executive Order against any possible court challenges,” said Senator Beach (D-Burlington/Camden). “We must ensure New Jerseyans do not have to choose between protecting their health and exercising their right to vote. Whether they are voting in person or by mail, this will ensure everyone can safely participate in the 2020 primary.”
