BEACH SUPPORTS PROPOSED PLAN TO GRADUALLY INCREASE NEW JERSEY’S MINIMUM WAGE

Beach Session

TRENTON – Senator Jim Beach (D-Burlington, Camden) issued the following statement in support of the recent proposal introduced by Senate President Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Prieto to raise the minimum wage in New Jersey to $15 over the next five years:

“Generation after generation has persevered to fulfill the American dream in this country where opportunity for prosperity and success exists and upward social mobility can be achieved through hard work.

“Unfortunately, too many New Jerseyans are finding it hard to survive, let alone thrive, earning minimum wage even though they are working very hard every day and playing by the rules.

“Raising the minimum wage will help those working individuals and families get a chance at living with the dignity they deserve and will economically benefit us all.”
