TRENTON – Senator Nilsa Cruz-Perez (D-Camden/Gloucester) today issued the following statement on the Murphy administration’s creation of the Commission on Puerto Rico Relief to help the thousands of Puerto Ricans that relocated to the Garden State:
“I welcome Governor Phil Murphy’s announcement that New Jersey will continue standing with Puerto Rico. This executive order confirms that New Jersey is determined to continue with its commitment to help the people of Puerto Rico and our Puerto Rican fellow citizens who came to New Jersey in search of refuge after Hurricane Maria devastated the island.
“Puerto Rico has not left the minds of the people of New Jersey and I am so happy to see Governor Murphy undertake this effort. The connection between New Jersey and Puerto Rico is deep and heartfelt and I know the people of Puerto Rico greatly appreciate our efforts.”
