Doria Reaction To State Of The State

TRENTON – Senator Joseph V. Doria, D-Hudson, a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement regarding Governor Codey’s State of the State Address today:

“Governor Codey, in his State of the State, showed the same straight-talk and forwardness that has so-endeared the people of New Jersey to him. He has served in a tumultuous time for the State of New Jersey, and he brought dignity and grace to his office. For all the praise that he received, he has earned every bit of it.

“One point in particular that he highlighted, that I think we need to take to heart in the coming legislative session, is the need to reinvest in the State of New Jersey. Our economic forecast is not bright, by any stretch of the imagination, but we need to wisely and carefully invest in projects and programs that will have real impact on the lives of our constituents for years to come.

“Whether it’s higher education, the transportation infrastructure, or public school construction, these are areas that will create a better New Jersey for the people in our State. I hope that under Governor-elect Corzine, we will be able to find the funds, and the willpower, to make Governor Codey’s vision for New Jersey a reality.”
