Kenny: Bass Levin’s Effectiveness Is Proven

TRENTON – Senate Majority Leader Bernard F. Kenny Jr. today said Susan Bass Levin’s knowledge of government – at every layer – makes her the right choice for Commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs. He made the following comments as the Senate considered her nomination. The Senate confirmation vote was 35-0.

“Susan Bass Levin is a proven leader of the Department of Community Affairs who has distinguished herself as an administrator over a critically important State agency. She is most deserving of this position in the Corzine Administration because of her record of accomplishment.

“Susan Bass Levin also knows the problems of local government, inside and out. As the Mayor of Cherry Hill, Susan Bass Levin dealt with balancing development and fighting sprawl, attracting ratables and protecting taxpayers. She knows the needs of our cities, our developed communities and the areas of our State that need to be preserved.

“Above all, Susan Bass Levin is a realist who fights problems head on. Her vision for New Jersey will reflect the Corzine Administration’s goals as they deal with the need to encourage investment and preserve our resources.”
