Kenny: Improved Budget Process Reaps Property Tax Relief

TRENTON – Senate Majority Leader Bernard F. Kenny Jr. made the following comments after Governor Corzine signed his State budget bill, S-3000, for the fiscal year beginning July 1.

“This budget will give residents record amounts of property tax relief and the clearest picture ever of how their money is being spent to support State services.

“I am proud of a budget that fully funds 20 percent property tax cuts for the majority of households in New Jersey and doubles the amount of tenant rebates.

“We’ve got more work ahead of us, but it’s a good ‘people budget’ that provides more school aid and municipal assistance across the board with no tax increases.

“This budget also protects the heart of State government by increasing health care for children, protecting seniors and providing a more equitable dose of charity care payments to hospitals.”

Senator Kenny also is Chairman of the Senate Budget & Appropriations Committee.
