TRENTON – Senate Majority Leader Bernard F. Kenny Jr. today said Acting Governor Codey’s State of the State Address was a “poignant call for government activism” in the face of complex, troubling times.
“Governor Codey and his wife, Mary Jo, together displayed courage in using her battle for mental health as a way to help thousands of other voiceless New Jerseyans get the help they need.
“The call for safety in our schools touched the hearts of all parents whose children are forced to grow up now under the very real threat of domestic terrorism.
“And Governor Codey showed his concern for working men and women and families struggling to pay for health care by his pitches to increase the minimum wage and to expand the impact of community health centers throughout New Jersey.
“Most of all, I believe Governor Codey set a positive tone where bipartisanship can be renewed and where all of us can find ways to help others despite the tough fiscal problems we face in the months ahead.”
