TRENTON – Senator Joseph Lagana issued the following statement today calling for the resignation of Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino:
“The remarks made by Sheriff Saudino are incredibly disappointing and unbecoming of the office he currently holds. Given the Sheriff’s comments, Bergen County residents’ faith in its law enforcement branch will not be restored unless he steps aside. We cannot tolerate discriminatory attitudes by public officials, who are elected to serve all of their constituents equally. Sheriff Saudino must resign and allow for new leadership to move the department forward.”
