ELIZABETH – State Senator Raymond J. Lesniak, D-Elizabeth, joined U.S. Senator Robert Menendez, U.S. Senator Frank R. Lautenberg and Elizabeth Mayor J. Christian Bollwage in a “Common Sense for Gun Control Laws” Press Conference in front of City Hall in Elizabeth today. Senator Lesniak released the following statement at today’s press conference:

“Senator Lautenberg and I served in the U.S. Army. As members of our military, we fired weapons, not guns. Weapons are not made for hunting or for target shooting. They’re made to kill. They belong in the hands of our police and our military, not on our streets. Guns with magazines of more than ten bullets are not guns, they’re weapons. I applaud our U.S. Senators for their efforts to get them off our streets.”
