Madden Issues Statement On Payroll Tax Cut Initiative He Sponsored

TRENTON – Senator Fred Madden (D-Gloucester, Camden) issued the following statement today on Governor Christie announcing $190 million in savings through a payroll tax cut. Senator Madden sponsored the legislation, S-2609, that resulted in these savings.

“Cutting payroll taxes is a fantastic way to provide a much needed break for middle class families. I am glad that Governor Christie has decided to embrace the concept put forward by myself and Senator Turner earlier this year.

“I am also happy that the state was able to keep Church & Dwight in New Jersey through use of the enhanced Business Retention and Relocation Assistance Grant Program legislation I also sponsored earlier in the year. The governor’s willingness, twice in one week now, to use Democrat’s ideas and principles in order to get our economy moving again is certainly welcome. It shows, I hope, his willingness to work with us on the dozens of bills we passed recently dealing with the economy.”
