Senator Paul Sarlo – whose legislative district includes the Meadowlands – released the following statement upon learning that the NFL owners have voted in favor of allowing the Meadowlands to host Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014:

“It’s about time that football’s biggest game is played in its best venue on the world’s biggest stage.
“For North Jersey, hosting the Super Bowl will be an economic win long before kickoff.
“And for all of New Jersey, it will be an opportunity for us to showcase our state as never before.
“I congratulate the Giants and Jets for working so hard to put together the winning bid, and I thank the NFL for its vote of confidence in the Meadowlands.”
