Senate Budget And Appropriations Panel To Hear From Commissioners Of Health, Banking And Insurance, And Labor On Wednesday

TRENTON – The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee is scheduled to hear testimony on Governor Corzine’s proposed FY 2009 budget, from the Departments of Health and Senior Services (10 AM), Banking and Insurance (2 PM), and Labor and Workforce Development (3 PM) on Wednesday, April 9, in Committee Room 4 of the State House Annex.

Committee Chair Senator Barbara Buono, D-Middlesex, said she expects the Department of Health and Senior Services hearing to focus on proposed changes to Charity Care and Medicaid benefits.

The Department of Banking and Insurance hearing will focus on changes to auto and health insurance, as well as subprime loans and foreclosure, Senator Buono said.

The day’s final hearing, with the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, is expected to yield answers to questions on temporary disability insurance, projected job growth, and the need to replenish the unemployment insurance fund, said Senator Buono.
