Senator Cunningham Expresses Disappointment Over Conditional Veto of Pay Equality Bill

Senator Sandra Cunningham listens to testimony during the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee hearing.

TRENTON – Senator Sandra B. Cunningham issued the following statement after Governor Christie conditionally vetoed S992, a bill concerning equal pay for women and employment discrimination:

“I am truly disappointed that in 2016 this is still an issue that has not been addressed. This legislation would have done more than just ensured women are paid a fair wage. It would have helped families and helped fuel the economy.

“Unfortunately for the women of New Jersey, we have come so far, but there is still more work to be done. We will not stop fighting for this issue. We are committed to making sure that women in our state get a fair wage for their work. It is long overdue.”
