Senator Gordon Applauds Project Labor Agreements at American Dream

Senator Bob Gordon, D-Bergen, speaks at a Budget Committee meeting in support of his bill to provide flood control funding for Bergen County.

TRENTONSenator Bob Gordon and Assemblymen Tim Eustace and Joseph Lagana issued a joint statement on today’s news that all construction contracts for the American Dream Project will fall under project labor agreements.

The 38th District  legislators, who represent portions of Bergen and Passaic Counties, have repeatedly called for project labor agreements at the American Dream site, arguing they will help ensure the work is done correctly while providing a much-needed boost to the region’s economy. The legislators said the decision will help provide thousands of jobs in a state that is still suffering from high unemployment.

“We emphatically applaud today’s announcement. The American Dream project is one of the most significant economic development projects in Bergen County and the state in years,” the legislators said. “The inclusion of project labor agreements will protect the public’s interest by guaranteeing quality work and maximizing the economic benefits that flow from the project.”
