Senator Troy Singleton to Partner with Roebling VFW for November Community Service Project

ROEBLING, NJ- In honor of Veteran’s Day, State Senator Troy Singleton will partner with Veterans of Foreign War Post #8838 for his November community service project.  The “Serve with Senator Singleton” event will take place on Saturday, November 3 at 10:00 a.m. at the Roebling VFW located at 10th and Main Street.                  

The Senator, who serves as Chairman of the Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee, and a group of volunteers will give some much needed TLC to the VFW hall.  Specifically, volunteers will be asked to help paint the interior of their hall and buff its floors. “November is the perfect time to partner with the Roebling VFW to give back to our local veterans and show them how much we appreciate all that they sacrificed for us,” said Senator Singleton, who represents part of Burlington County in the 7th Legislative District. “As we celebrate and honor all of the men and women who have served our nation in the U.S. military, this is an opportunity for us to collectively reflect on and thank our veterans for their service.”

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8838 in Roebling is one of nearly 7,000 VFW posts worldwide. VFW is the nation’s largest organization of war veterans and its oldest major veterans’ organization, with nearly 1.9 million VFW and Auxiliary members. The VFW and its Auxiliaries are dedicated to veterans’ service, legislative advocacy, and military and community service programs.

This will be Senator Singleton’s 11th “Serve with Singleton” event since becoming a State Senator in January of 2018. Previous efforts included: renovation of the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store, a clean-up day at Jacob’s Chapel Ministry Center, painting two Community Options homes, a clean-up day at Strawbridge Lake, a spring cleaning at Providence House, a clothing drive for UIH Family Partners, lunch duty at Beverly United Methodist Church’s summer lunch program, a back-to-school supply drive in partnership with Tabernacle Baptist Church, setting-up Cinnaminson’s Relay for Life, and building animal shelters with HousePaws.
