Stops At Ingredients Company In Paramus
TRENTON – Senate President Steve Sweeney continued his “Small Business Listening Tour” of New Jersey today with a stop at an ingredients company in Paramus. The tour is designed to better understand the needs of New Jersey’s small businesses during these difficult economic times. As he travels across the state, the Senate President will hear from local business owners, workers and constituents about what they feel can help best get New Jersey’s economy, currently one of the worst performing in the nation, moving again.
Senate President Sweeney, along with Senator Bob Gordon and Assemblyman Timothy Eustace (both D-Bergen/Passaic), visited Mycell Technologies, an ingredients and technology company that specializes in the usage of Omega-3s in food, beverage, medical, and nutritional products. Mycell employs 15 people. Senate President Sweeney met with Mycell co-founder and CEO Benjamin Mamola, President John Ioannou, CTO and co-founder Volker Berle, Director of Marketing Stephanie Perine, Sr. Vice President of Operations and Technology Greg Paddon-Jones, Sr., and Executive Vice President and COO Joe Krasinski, toured the facility, spoke to employees, and discussed ways the state could help businesses like Mycell grow.
“The feedback I have received so far has been valuable and enlightening. I appreciate the honest and forthright discussions that we have been having along the way. Sometimes, we need to get out of the halls of Trenton and hear candid conversation from those who are impacted by our decisions,” said Sweeney.

In addition to hearing the concerns of small business owners, the Senate President is promoting and highlighting the ‘Jersey Shore Is Open for Business’ campaign, an initiative to help New Jersey residents find which stores and businesses are open in the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy. The project is being done in conjunction with the New Jersey Restaurant and New Jersey Retail Merchants Associations, as well as the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau.
