27 Feb: Turner Resolution Would Designate March As ‘Women’s History Month’

TRENTON – A measure sponsored by Senate President Pro Tempore Shirley K. Turner that would help celebrate women by designating March of each year as “Women’s History Month” was unanimously approved today by the full Senate.

“Women have made so many significant contributions to society and the world as a whole, and I feel it’s only appropriate to set at least one month aside to celebrate our strides and accomplishments,” said Senator Turner, D-Mercer. “Look at Rosa Parks and Coretta Scott King and Betty Friedan, three phenomenal women that we’ve just recently lost. These women paved the way for women like myself and sacrificed so much to help ensure the equal treatment of blacks and women in this country.”
