Vitale Statement Supporting HPAE Complaint To National Labor Relations Board

WOODBRIDGE – Senator Joseph F. Vitale (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement in support of the nurses and health care workers at Meadowlands Hospital:

“The health care workers of Meadowlands Hospital care about their profession, their hospital and most of all, they care about their patients. I proudly stand with them today to call on the National Labor Relations Board to protect the rights of these hard workers so that they may continue to ensure their patients receive the level of care they expect and deserve.

“A lot of people these days are forced to live paycheck to paycheck. Imagine the added stress Meadowlands Hospital has put on their employees’ families by bouncing paychecks and forcing their employees to expectedly pay out-of-pocket for their prescription drugs.

“As a small business owner, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to meet payroll each week. It is clear to me that Meadowlands Hospital is struggling for help. It is time for the Department of Health to recognize that this hospital is struggling. I encourage the Department to appoint an independent monitor to make sure Meadowlands Hospital can be put back on the right track.”
