TRENTON – Senator John H. Adler, D-Cherry Hill, today said Governor Corzine’s address to the Legislature highlighted the need for a new school funding formula.
“We desperately need a new school funding formula that is fairer to children and to taxpayers,” Senator Adler said.
The Democratic lawmaker said the situation now is so dire that those in the Legislature who refuse to help solve the problem should terminate their legislative careers.
“Those legislators who don’t answer the Governor’s call to action should not seek re-election,” Senator Adler said.
Mandatory consolidation may well be necessary, Senator Adler said.
“We should not be reluctant to mandate consolidation of services and even the elimination of school districts and many municipalities,” he said.
