Beach: Service And Sacrifice Of State’s POW/MIA’S Are Not Forgotten

Senator Jim Beach, D-Camden and Chairman of the Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee, listens to testimony during today’s committee hearing.

TRENTON — Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Jim Beach released the following statement in honor of National POW/MIA Recognition Day and POW/MIA Recognition Day in New Jersey, which the governor declared in an official proclamation earlier today:

“While we celebrate the bravery of our men and women in uniform who have returned from the battlefields, and honor the ultimate sacrifice of those who gave their lives, we must never forget the untold numbers who have never been fully accounted-for. The POW/MIA flag bears the simple reminder, ‘You are not forgotten,’ and today must be no exception. Over the past several years, medical science has been able to help numerous families reach closure, as remains found have been positively identified and returned home. But there are many more families who have yet to receive the news that their loved one has been found. Today, as we keep them in our thoughts and prayers, their service and sacrifice is not forgotten.”
