TRENTON – Senator Barbara Buono, Chair of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, today said she believes R. David Rousseau will make an “excellent State Treasurer because of his experience, his intelligence and his communications skills.
“Dave is well grounded in all matters related to the State Budget process,” said Senator Buono, D-Middlesex. “He understands the relationship between the executive and legislative branches and how we get to the final product.”
Senator Buono said she has known Rousseau for more than a dozen years and respects his judgment.
“It’s a very great responsibility being Treasurer, but one Dave is well qualified to handle,” Senator Buono said.
The Budget Chair said she also has been impressed with Rousseau’s ability to deal with issues on a bipartisan basis.
“As a former budget director for the Senate Democrats, Dave knows what it is like from both a Majority and Minority perspective,” she said.
Governor Corzine today announced his intentions to submit Rousseau’s nomination as Treasurer to the State Senate for confirmation.
