TRENTON – After his reappointment today as Chairman of the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee by Senate President Richard J. Codey, Senator Ronald L. Rice said that he is looking forward to getting back to addressing important issues that affect the residents in cities.

“As a senior ranking Senator, I am excited to be reappointed as the Chairman of the Community and Urban Affairs Committee because I feel that there is still unfinished business in this State,” said Senator Rice, D-Essex. “I want the residents of this State and especially the citizens in the 28th legislative district to know that I won’t yield to pressures from either side of the aisle on issues that are important to the people of New Jersey.”

Senator Rice noted that, “This legislative session, I hope to advance a comprehensive and fair eminent domain measure that will protect the residents and business owners in this State while still allowing for growth”.

Senator Rice also states that he hopes to continue to study the sub-prime mortgage market and create legislation to help those who are facing foreclosure.

Senator Rice continues to serve as the Chairman of both the Legislative Black Caucus, and the Joint Committee on the Public Schools. Senator Rice also sits on the Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee. ###
