Buono-Madden Bill Advances To Expedite Handicap Accessible Rail Stations

TRENTON – The Senate today approved a bill, S-464, sponsored by Senators Barbara Buono and Fred Madden, to require New Jersey Transit devise a plan within six months on how it will make its rail stations handicap accessible.

“We want a projection for a timeline so disabled persons can use rail facilities in New Jersey,” said Senator Buono, D-Middlesex. “Right now, less than half of the NJ Transit commuter rail stations are accessible for the handicapped by elevator, ramp or portable lift.”
