TRENTON – State Senator Richard J. Codey, D-Essex, a former governor, issued the following statement today regarding the news that his predecessor in the Governor’s Office, Jon Corzine, has announced his engagement to long-time girlfriend Sharon Elghanayan:
“As one former governor to another, I’d like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to Jon and Sharon as they start this next chapter of their lives together.
“I know firsthand that public service can put a serious strain on personal lives, but those personal relationships can be a great source of strength. Throughout some of the most difficult times of Governor Corzine’s term, Sharon was right by his side, providing the sort of love and support I enjoyed from Mary Jo throughout my tenure as Governor.
“Best wishes to Jon and Sharon for many years of health and happiness ahead.”
