Scutari Statement on Bill Expanding Workers’ Comp Benefits for ‘Essential Workers’ Passing Senate

Trenton – Senator Nicholas Scutari issued the following statement on the Senate passing legislation, S-2380, he sponsored which would expand access to workers’ compensation and other benefits for front-line workers sickened by the coronavirus:

“New Jersey’s essential workers are tasked with leaving the security of their homes to provide an essential service to their community, putting them at far greater risk of contracting COVID-19,” said Senator Scutari (D-Middlesex/Somerset/Union). “The men and women of our workforce, on the front lines of this public health crisis, deserve to have workers’ compensation benefits afforded to them if they become ill with the virus. It is our responsibility to ensure our workers are protected, especially when their health is at risk while making sure the essential operations continue functioning throughout this uncertain moment in time.”
