SENATE DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP TEAM UNANIMOUSLY RE-ELECTED FOLLOWING HISTORIC VICTORIES

TRENTON – The Senate Democrats today re-elected the same leadership team that guided the Senate through a highly-successful legislative term and led Democrats to a triumphant election where they defied a tidal wave by a Republican gubernatorial candidate in winning every contested race and retaining the same majority control of 24 seats.

Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-Gloucester, Cumberland, Salem), Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D-Bergen), Deputy Majority Leader Paul Sarlo (D-Bergen, Passaic) and Senate President Pro Temp Nia Gill (D-Essex, Passaic) were all unanimously re-elected by members of the Democratic Majority.

Senator Sarlo and Senator Gill will both be serving their third terms in those positions.
